In the middle of the Eixample district near the Rambla the Catalunya and Passeig the Gràcia you’ll find this fine and popular three-star hotel. Hotel Praktik Vinoteca is 700 meters from Plaça de Catalunya, the heart of the city. Beautiful, soundproofed rooms, sleekly decorated and with wooden floors and private bathrooms. The hotel has lovely sitting areas, where of course you will have a glass of wine!
Besides Hotel Praktik Vinoteca, you can also go to Hotel Praktik Garden or Hotel Praktik Bakery, also recommended for those who don’t want to spend too much money but are still looking for a good hotel.
Hotel 54 Barceloneta
One of the few three-star hotels near Barcelona’s beach is the Hotel 54 Barceloneta along Joan de Borbó boulevard. This boulevard runs along the old port in the neighborhood of La Barceloneta. The location is fantastic: within a few minutes you are on the beach and you can walk right into the old town. The hotel has a modern design, the rooms are not particularly spacious, but have a private bathroom and a good bed. A nice touch is the roof terrace at the hotel. The breakfast buffet is not particularly extensive.
Hostal Grau
‘Sleep green in Barcelona’ is the motto of this eco-hotel in the city center, between Plaça Catalunya and Plaça Universitat squares in the El Raval district. Think: LED lighting, natural shower products, automatic water savers, organic bedding and furniture made from “good” wood. Guests can enjoy breakfast – using only ecological products, of course – as early as five in the morning or take a bike for free. The family rooms or suites for three or four people, equipped with microwave and refrigerator, are great options for small families. A crib or child seat can be rented upon request. There are also childcare options at the hotel.
Hotel Barcelona House
On a side street of the Rambla, near Plaça Reial, you’ll find Hotel Barcelona House. The rooms are on the small side, but cozy and clean. Keep in mind that not all rooms have a window, so if you want fresh air it’s best to tell us in advance. Breakfast is nothing special, but there are plenty of bakeries with sweet and savory treats nearby. Thanks to the recent renovation of the premises, the hotel has a fresh and modern look. In short, good value for money.
On evenings on weekends, the immediate area can be crowded (and noisy) because of the many cheap street food stores and various nightlife venues.
Pension Casa del Mediterraneo
In the Carrer d’Enric Granados, perhaps the coziest street in the Eixample neighborhood, you’ll find this inexpensive guest house Casa del Mediterraneo. Simple but nice rooms, which have air conditioning and central heating. You share the bathroom with other guests. The guesthouse also includes a terrace and a lounge area. Personalized service. A good option if you don’t want to spend too much on your overnight stay.
Hotel Pelayo
Hotel Pelayo is a plain and simple one-star hotel a two-minute walk from Plaça Catalunya, the center of the city. The interior is somewhat outdated, but the rooms are clean and have private bathrooms. Hotel Pelayo also offers family rooms for families, and children under three do not pay. Suitable for those not looking for a designer hotel, but a decent and inexpensive option in a good location: you’re right in the middle of the city here, which is easy if you want to see and explore a lot.
Ibis Plaça Glòries
Hotel Ibis Plaça Glòries is not located in the heart of the city, but rather at the beginning of the former industrial district and the present-day technological district of Poblenou. The hotel counts two stars, but has such fine conveniences as parking and a gym. The beach is within walking distance. The interior is stylish and business-like in appearance. The rooms are spacious and have private bathrooms, closet space and good beds. There is plenty to do in the area, but most attractions are not within walking distance of the hotel. There are plenty of transportation links nearby, though.
Hotel Center Gran Vía
Hotel Center Gran Vía is located on the busy street the Gran Vía, not far from the city center, a great location both for exploring the historic center and the modernist residential area of Eixample. The hotel is located in a typical modernista building, with Spanish balconies, colored tile floors and high ceilings. Old and modern elements are playfully combined. The hotel also includes a terrace. Inside, there is air conditioning and the rooms have private bathrooms. The value for money is very good.
Hotel Ciutat Vella
Hotel Ciutat Vella is a boutique hotel with fresh appeal in the El Raval district close to Plaça Catalunya, the city’s central square. The rooms are colorful and modern, and so are the accompanying bathrooms. Some rooms have a private terrace or balcony. Keep in mind that on the street side there may be some noise at night. On the roof terrace you can enjoy a small, but nice, hot tub.
Hotel Oasis
This simple two-star hotel Oasis is located right between the neighborhoods of La Barceloneta and El Born, a prime location. So you’re right on the beach (about a ten-minute walk), but also in the old town. The rooms are fine, some a bit bigger than others, and despite the fact that the hotel only has two stars, it comes with a nice and cozy new roof terrace with mini pool. The decor is a bit dated here and there, but the value for money is fine.
Chic & Basic Zoo
As the name suggests, Chic & Basic Zoo is located near the zoo. The hotel is in the trendy El Born district, opposite the popular Parc de la Ciutadella and a 15-minute walk from the beach: a perfect location, then. The rooms are simple and modern and not overly large, some having little natural light. Of the various hotels available to Chic & Basic in Barcelona, this is the simplest. There is no reception in the evenings, as it is in another location, though nearby. The hotel also has a cozy sitting area where you can get free tea, coffee and cookies. In short, simple hotel, top location, good value for money.
